Manage your lenders
Keep a roster of the lenders you work with, mark your primary one, and record which clients you send to each.
The Lenders page is a board with one column per lender. Each column lists the clients you referred to that lender in the year selected in the sidebar, so you can see at a glance where your business is going and who is earning it.
Add a lender
- Open Lenders from the sidebar.
- Select + Add Lender. The Add New Lender form opens on the page. If you have no lenders yet, the page shows No Lenders Yet with an Add Your First Lender button that opens the same form.
- Enter the Lender Name. It is the only required field.
- Add the Company, Email, and Phone if you have them.
- If this lender is also one of your clients, choose them under Link to a contact (optional) so the two records stay linked. Otherwise leave it on Not in my Contacts.
- Add any Notes.
- Tick Make this my primary lender if this is the one you send most clients to. It is shown first with a Primary badge, and it replaces your current primary lender.
- Select Add Lender.
The new lender gets its own column. Primary lenders sort first; the rest sort by name. There is also a dashed Add Lender card at the end of the board that opens the same form.
Record a referral to a lender
- In the lender's column, select + Add Referral.
- Under Client(s), search for the client you referred. You can pick more than one, and you can create a new client from the dropdown with + Add new client and Add & Select Client.
- Set the Date Referred.
- Add Notes if you like, then select Add.
The referral appears in the column with the client's name, the date, and any notes. Each column's header counts its referrals for the year you are viewing. To remove one, hover over it and select the Delete referral button, then confirm with Delete.
Edit a lender
Select Edit in a lender's header. The header turns into a short form where you can change the Name, Company, and Link to contact (optional), and tick or untick Active and Primary. Select Save to keep the changes or Cancel to drop them.
Untick Active for a lender you no longer use. Inactive lenders carry an Inactive badge and drop off the board unless they have referrals in the selected year. When any lender is inactive, a Show inactive checkbox appears at the top of the page to bring them all back.
To delete a lender, select the Delete lender button next to Edit and confirm with Delete. This permanently deletes the lender and every referral recorded against them, so deactivating is usually the better choice for a lender you may work with again.
Read the summary
Below the board, a Summary card for the selected year shows four figures:
- Active Lenders, with the inactive count underneath when there are any
- the year's Referrals
- your Primary Lender, or None if you have not set one
- Most Referrals for the year, the lender who received the most
When the year you are viewing holds fewer referrals than you have recorded in total, the page heading says so, for example 4 referrals in the year and 12 total. Change the year in the sidebar to see earlier ones.
A few notes
- One primary at a time. Making a lender primary clears it from whichever lender had it before.
- Linked contact. A lender linked to one of your clients carries a Linked contact badge. The link does not change either record; it marks them as the same person.
- Referrals and the Referrals page are different things. This page tracks clients you send out to lenders. The Referrals page tracks clients other people send to you.
