Plan your month with a 4-1-1
Turn annual goals into monthly goals and weekly priorities, check them off as the month runs, and review wins and challenges at the end.
A 4-1-1 is a one-page plan for the month. It starts from your annual goals, narrows them to what this month needs to accomplish, and breaks that into priorities for each of four weeks. You create one per month, work from it through the month, and close it out with what went well and what did not.
Open it from Goals, where the 4-1-1 card sits beside GPS, or from the Coaching page. Every signed-in member can create their own; your coach or team leader can read it but cannot change it.
How the three levels fit together
- Annual Goals are four text fields, Job Goals, Business Goals, Financial Goals, and Personal Goals. They carry from month to month, so most months you only confirm them. If you have an active GPS for the year, its My Big Why is suggested for the job goal.
- Monthly Goals use the same four categories, but as a checklist. Add as many as you like; at least one is required to save.
- Weekly Goals are the priorities for Week 1 through Week 4. These are what you check off during the month.
Above the monthly goals, Monthly Targets (from your goals) shows your annual Goals divided across the year, as GCI, Transactions, Contacts (your conversations target), Appointments, and Agreements. They are read-only here; change them on Goals.
Create this month's 4-1-1
- Open 4-1-1. Under This Month, select the Create button that names the current month, for example Create October 4-1-1, or New 4-1-1 at the top.
- Fill in or confirm the Annual Goals.
- Under Monthly Goals, type a goal in Add a goal... and press Enter. Repeat for each category you want.
- If last month's 4-1-1 had unfinished weekly priorities, they appear under Carry Forward from Last Month, each checked. Uncheck any you are dropping; the rest are added to Week 1 when you save.
- Add priorities under Week 1 through Week 4.
- Select Create 4-1-1.
A 4-1-1 is always for the current month, and there is one per month per person. If one already exists, the page says so and you can open it from the list instead.
Work from it during the month
Opening a record shows Goal Completion as priorities done over priorities set, then the annual goals, the monthly goals, the targets, and the four week cards. On an Active record you own, each priority is a checkbox; checking one saves on its own, and Saving... then Saved appears beside the title. Wins and Challenges are open text boxes at the bottom, saved the same way; write in them as things happen rather than reconstructing the month later.
The month's 4-1-1 also shows on your Coaching page as a snapshot, one tile per week, and on your team leader's view of you. See Coach your team from the Coaching page.
Edit the plan
- Open the record and select Edit. Only the owner can edit, and only while the record is Active.
- Change the annual goals, monthly goals, weekly priorities, wins, or challenges.
- Select Save Changes, or Cancel to leave everything as it was.
Close out the month
- When the month is done, open the record and select Mark Complete. The status changes from Active to Completed, and the checkboxes and text fields become read-only.
- Later, a completed record offers Archive, which moves it to Archived. Both remain in the list under Previous Months with their completion percent.
An Active record from an earlier month is marked Completed on its own the next time your list loads, so nothing stays open by accident. When you create the next month's 4-1-1, its unfinished priorities are offered as carry-forward.
A monthly rhythm
Create the 4-1-1 in the first days of the month, while the annual goals are fresh. Check the week's priorities at the start of each week and tick them off as you go. At month end, write Wins and Challenges before you mark it complete; those two boxes are what make next month's plan better than this one.
