Write a GPS for the year

Set down your big why, your numbers, and your focus areas in a Goals, Priorities & Strategies document, then activate it for the year.

A GPS is a one-page plan for the year: why you are doing this work, the numbers you are aiming for, and the areas, skills, and habits you will give your attention to. Your annual goals are the targets the Dashboard measures against; the GPS is where you write down the thinking behind them.

Open GPS

  1. Open Goals from the sidebar.
  2. Select the GPS card, under the goal exercises. The page is titled GPS, with the subtitle Goals, Priorities & Strategies for your business.

There is no sidebar item for GPS; the Goals page is the way in. Each person sees only their own GPS records here. If you have more than one year on file, year buttons appear above the list, and the current year is selected to start.

Before you have written one, the page shows No GPS for this year yet with a Create [year] GPS button. A past year with nothing on file shows No GPS found for [year].

Create a GPS

  1. Select New GPS. The wizard has four steps: My Big Why, Numbers, Focus & Development, and Review.
  2. On My Big Why, write what drives you. This step is required; Continue shows Write your Big Why before continuing. until there is something in the box.
  3. On Your Numbers, enter your targets: Annual Income Goal (GCI), Transaction Goal, Average Sale Price, Average Commission, Listings Taken Goal, and Buyer Agreements Goal. Under Daily & Weekly Activity, enter Contacts Per Day and Appointments Per Week.
  4. On Focus & Development, add up to five items in each of Focus Areas, Skills to Develop, and Habits to Build. Type an item and press Enter, or use the plus button; a counter under each list reads, for example, 2/5 added.
  5. Select See Your Plan to review everything, then Save GPS.

The new GPS opens on its own page with the toast GPS created. You can have one GPS per year.

How the numbers connect to your goals

If you already have a goal saved for the current year, the Numbers step is filled in from it: the income goal from your annual GCI target, the transaction goal from your annual transactions, average sale price and average commission worked out from your volume and GCI per transaction, and buyer agreements from your agreements-signed target. Contacts per day is your annual Conversations target spread over 250 working days, and appointments per week is your annual appointments-set target spread over 50 weeks. Change any of them freely.

The link runs one way. Saving a GPS does not change your goals, and the Dashboard rings keep measuring against the targets on the Goals page. If the numbers you settle on in the GPS differ from your goals, update the goals too; see Set goals and track your pace.

Read a GPS

Each GPS page shows My Big Why at the top, then a Numbers row of cards: Income Goal, Transactions, Avg Sale Price, Avg Commission, Listings Goal, Buyer Agreements, Contacts/Day, and Appts/Week. Below that, Focus & Development lists your Focus Areas, Skills to Develop, and Habits to Build; an empty list reads None set. The footer shows the team, and when the GPS was created and last updated.

A coach assigned to you can open your GPS as well. Nobody else on the account can.

Draft, Active, Archived

A new GPS starts as a Draft. The status moves in one direction, and only the person who wrote the GPS can move it.

  1. While it is a draft, select Edit to change anything, or Activate when you are ready to commit to it.
  2. While it is active, you can still Edit. Select Archive when the year is over or the plan no longer fits.
  3. An archived GPS is read only. It stays in the list for the year it belongs to.

Editing walks through the same four steps, ending in Review Changes and Save Changes, and the page confirms with GPS updated.
