Sign-in trouble and password reset
Reset a forgotten password, deal with an expired link, and what to do when an invite or a deactivated account keeps you out.
Most sign-in problems are one of four things. Each has a short fix.
Forgotten password
- On the sign-in page, select Forgot your password?
- Enter the email address on your account and submit. If that address belongs to a TetherLines account, a reset email arrives within a minute or two. Check spam if it does not.
- Open the link in the email and choose a new password of at least 8 characters.
- Sign in with the new password.
The link works once and for a limited time. If it has expired, the page says so and offers to send a new one; request it from the same page rather than reusing the old email.
Wrong email or password
A sign-in that does not match marks both fields, because the page cannot tell which one is off. The email has to be the one your account was created with, or the one on your invitation. If you use more than one address, try the other before resetting anything.
After several failed attempts in a row, sign-in pauses briefly for safety. Wait a minute and try again.
An invite link that no longer works
Invitation links expire. If you are joining a team and the link from your email has stopped working, ask the person who invited you to open Settings, then Team Members, and select Resend invite next to your name. A fresh link arrives by email. The sign-in page can also request a new link for the address you were invited at.
The full walkthrough is in Accept your invite and set up your account.
A deactivated account
A team leader can deactivate a member who has left the team. A deactivated account is refused at sign-in, and its records stay with the team. If you believe this is a mistake, contact your team leader; only they can reactivate you.
Still stuck
Email support@tetherlines.com from the address on your account, with what you see on screen. Team accounts hear back within one business day, usually much faster.
